Rules & Privacy Policy

SlipTracker is a community built by racers, for racers. To keep this a safe, respectful, and enjoyable space for everyone, all users must abide by the following rules. Violations may result in content removal, suspension, or a permanent ban.

1. Respect Every Member

• Treat all members with respect regardless of skill level, background, vehicle, or opinion.
• Harassment, bullying, threats, or personal attacks of any kind will not be tolerated.
• Discriminatory language or content targeting race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, or sexual orientation is strictly prohibited.

2. No Offensive or Harmful Content

• Do not post obscene, explicit, sexually suggestive, or graphic violent content.
• Do not share content that glorifies illegal activity, including street racing, reckless driving, or endangering others.
• Hate speech, slurs, and derogatory language are forbidden.

3. No Spam or Misleading Content

• Do not flood the feed with repetitive posts, unsolicited promotions, or irrelevant links.
• Do not impersonate other users, racers, or public figures.
• Time slips and performance data must be genuine — falsifying results is grounds for removal.

4. Privacy of Others

• Do not share another person's personal information without their explicit consent.
• Do not post photos or videos of others without their permission.

5. Consequences

Violations of these rules may result in post removal, a warning, temporary suspension, or a permanent ban depending on severity. Repeat offenders will have their profiles removed and be barred from rejoining. We reserve the right to remove any content or account that we determine to be harmful to the community.

1. Introduction

Slip Tracker is an independently operated online service based in New Zealand. References in this Privacy Policy to "Slip Tracker", "we", "us" or "our" mean the operator of the Slip Tracker service.

Slip Tracker respects the privacy of its users and is committed to handling personal information responsibly, transparently and with reasonable care.

By using Slip Tracker, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy.

We operate from New Zealand and aim to comply with applicable New Zealand privacy law, including the Privacy Act 2020. Users accessing Slip Tracker from other countries are responsible for understanding any additional rights or requirements that may apply in their jurisdiction.

2. Our Privacy Principles

Our general approach is to:

• collect only information reasonably required to provide and improve Slip Tracker;
• give users meaningful control over information intended for public display;
• avoid publicly exposing personal contact information without permission;
• use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information;

• remove personal information when it is no longer reasonably required, subject to legal, security, backup and operational requirements; and

3. Information We May Collect

Depending on how you use Slip Tracker, information we collect may include:

Account information

This may include your:

• name;
• email address;
• account identifier;
• username or profile name;
• country or general location;
• account type;
• profile photograph;
• account preferences; and
• authentication and account-related information.

We do not require users to publicly display their email address or other private contact information merely because they have a Slip Tracker account.

Racing information

Slip Tracker may store information that you voluntarily provide or generate through use of the Services, including:

• racing time slips;
• photographs or scans of time slips;
• race results;
• reaction times;
• elapsed times;
• speeds;
• track information;
• race dates;
• vehicle information;
• drivetrain information;
• performance history;
• events attended;
• racing achievements;
• badges;
• sponsors and partners;
• racing experience;
• career information; and
• other information associated with your racing activities.

Racer profile information

If you create or enable a Racer Profile, you may choose to provide information including:

• your name or racing identity;
• profile photograph;
• biography or profile summary;
• racing history;
• vehicles campaigned;
• tracks raced;
• achievements and awards;
• sponsors and partners;
• social media links;
• sponsorship interests;
• selected racing statistics; and
• other career-related information.

Where controls are provided, you are responsible for selecting which information you wish to make visible.

Agent and business information

Users applying for agent, business, sponsor, industry or similar access may provide additional information such as:

• business or organisation name;
• business website;
• professional role;
• social media profiles;
• information used to assess an application; and
• information associated with connection requests.

We may review this information to help determine whether access to restricted industry or racer-contact features should be granted.

Approval by Slip Tracker does not constitute an endorsement, certification or guarantee of that person or organisation.

Technical information

When you use Slip Tracker, certain technical information may be collected automatically, including:

• IP address;
• browser type;
• device type;
• operating system;
• approximate location derived from technical information;
• referring pages;
• pages or features accessed;
• timestamps;
• application errors;
• security events;
• diagnostic information; and
• usage information.

This information may be used for security, troubleshooting, analytics, fraud prevention and improving the Services.

4. Information Derived From Uploaded Content

Slip Tracker may use automated systems, including optical character recognition ("OCR"), data extraction, statistical processing and other automated processes to interpret uploaded time slips and related information.

Automated systems can make mistakes.

Users should check important information before relying upon it. Slip Tracker may provide tools for correcting information but does not guarantee that automatically extracted or calculated information will always be accurate.

We may also derive statistics, rankings, achievements, performance information and other results from information stored within Slip Tracker.

5. Information From Other Sources

In some circumstances, Slip Tracker may receive information from sources other than you directly. This could include information necessary to operate features involving events, racing venues, agents, businesses, connected users or third-party service providers.

Where required by applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to notify you about indirect collection and its purpose.

6. How We Use Information

We may use information to:

• create and maintain user accounts;
• authenticate users;
• process uploaded racing information;
• provide racing statistics and history;
• operate Racer Profiles;
• display information users have chosen to make visible;
• operate search and discovery features;
• calculate leaderboards, achievements and badges;
• provide vehicle and racing-history features;
• facilitate approved connection requests;
• communicate important service information;
• send communications users have requested or consented to receive;
• provide customer support;
• diagnose faults;
• prevent fraud, abuse and malicious activity;
• maintain security;
• investigate breaches of our Terms;
• improve Slip Tracker;
• develop new functionality;
• create aggregated or de-identified statistics;
• comply with applicable laws; and
• protect Slip Tracker, our users and other people.

We do not intend to use personal information for purposes materially unrelated to the reason it was collected unless we have an appropriate legal basis or obtain permission where required.

7. Public and Private Information

Slip Tracker contains both private and potentially public-facing features.

Having a Slip Tracker account does not necessarily mean that all information associated with that account is public.

Where Slip Tracker provides privacy or visibility controls, we aim to respect those selections.

Users may choose to make certain information visible through a Racer Profile or other public feature.

Information deliberately made public may potentially be:

• viewed by other people;
• shared through links;
• indexed or cached by third-party services;
• captured in screenshots;
• copied by other users; or
• retained elsewhere after you subsequently remove it.

Slip Tracker cannot control information once another person has legitimately obtained or copied information that you chose to make public.

We therefore encourage users to consider carefully what information they publish.

8. Public Racer Profiles and Shareable Links

Where supported, users may elect to make a Racer Profile publicly accessible.

A public Racer Profile may be accessible through a dedicated web address and may be viewable without the viewer being logged into Slip Tracker.

Users are responsible for deciding whether they wish to enable this functionality.

Information that has not been selected or authorised for public display should not intentionally be exposed through a public Racer Profile.

Slip Tracker may provide separate access controls for searching or discovering racers within the Slip Tracker platform.

Possessing a direct link to a public profile does not necessarily provide access to Slip Tracker's wider user search or database functionality.

9. Private Racing Information

Some racing information may be designated private.

Slip Tracker may use private information internally where necessary to provide functionality requested by the user. For example, a user may choose to display an aggregate count of private racing runs without displaying the underlying private time slips.

Where possible, Slip Tracker will distinguish between displaying an aggregate statistic and exposing the underlying private information.

10. Connections Between Users

Slip Tracker may allow users to indicate relationships or connections with other users.

A connection does not mean Slip Tracker has verified or endorses any personal, professional, commercial or racing relationship between those users unless expressly stated otherwise.

Users should exercise their own judgement when communicating or entering arrangements with people they discover through Slip Tracker.

11. Agents, Businesses, Sponsors and Industry Users

Certain users may apply for additional privileges allowing them to request connections with racers.

Slip Tracker may require administrative approval before these features become available.

Administrative approval is intended as an access-control measure. It is not a guarantee that an approved person or organisation is reputable, financially sound, trustworthy, qualified or suitable for any particular user.

Racers remain responsible for deciding whether they wish to accept contact or enter any commercial, sponsorship, employment, management or other relationship.

We strongly recommend conducting appropriate independent checks before entering significant agreements.

12. Third-Party Links

Users may be able to provide links to websites, sponsors, businesses and social media accounts.

Slip Tracker may attempt to validate or restrict certain links for security purposes, but we cannot guarantee the safety, accuracy or content of external websites.

Following an external link takes you outside Slip Tracker.

Third-party websites operate under their own terms, privacy policies and security practices. Slip Tracker is not responsible for their content or practices.

13. Service Providers and Infrastructure

Slip Tracker relies on third-party technology and infrastructure providers to operate.

Information may therefore be processed or stored using third-party services providing functions such as:

• hosting;
• databases;
• authentication;
• email delivery;
• file and image storage;
• analytics;
• security;
• error monitoring;
• artificial intelligence or automated processing; and
• other infrastructure required to operate the Services.

Some providers or infrastructure may be located outside New Zealand.

Where required, we will take reasonable steps to ensure overseas handling or disclosure of personal information is consistent with applicable New Zealand privacy requirements.

14. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or destruction.

However, no website, database, network, cloud service or electronic communication system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Despite reasonable safeguards, malicious actors, software vulnerabilities, service failures, human error or circumstances beyond our reasonable control may result in unauthorised access or loss.

You acknowledge that providing information over the internet involves some inherent risk.

We will not knowingly introduce malicious software or intentionally cause damage to users' devices or information.

15. Your Account Security

You are responsible for taking reasonable steps to protect your account.

You should:

• use a strong and unique password where passwords are applicable;
• protect access to your email account;
• not deliberately share authentication credentials;
• log out of shared devices; and
• notify us if you reasonably believe your account has been compromised.

You are responsible for activity performed through your account to the extent permitted by law, particularly where that activity results from your failure to take reasonable security precautions.

16. Data Breaches

If we become aware of a privacy breach, we will assess it and take reasonable steps to contain and investigate the incident.

Where required by applicable law, we will notify affected individuals and/or the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner.

17. Accessing and Correcting Your Information

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to personal information we hold about you and request correction of information you believe is inaccurate.

Many types of information may also be directly editable through your Slip Tracker account.

We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain privacy requests.

18. Deleting Your Account

Where available, users may request or initiate account deletion.

Deleting an account may remove or de-identify information associated with that account, subject to:

• legal obligations;
• fraud and abuse prevention;
• security records;
• dispute resolution;
• legitimate administrative records;
• backups;
• technical limitations; and
• information that has already been legitimately shared or made public.

Backup copies may remain temporarily until they are overwritten or deleted through normal backup cycles.

We do not intend to retain identifiable personal information indefinitely when it is no longer reasonably required.

19. Data Accuracy

We encourage users to maintain accurate account and profile information.

Racing information may originate from uploaded documents, automated extraction, user input or calculations and may therefore contain errors.

Where appropriate, Slip Tracker may correct information or provide users with tools to do so.

20. Analytics and Aggregated Information

We may create statistics using aggregated or de-identified information.

For example, we may analyse overall participation, vehicle types, track activity, application usage or performance trends.

Where information has been properly aggregated or de-identified so that individuals are not reasonably identifiable, it may no longer constitute personal information.

21. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Slip Tracker and its service providers may use cookies, local storage, session information and similar technologies to:

• keep users signed in;
• remember preferences;
• maintain security;
• understand how the Services are used;
• diagnose problems; and
• improve functionality.

Where legally required, additional consent mechanisms may be provided.

22. Communications

We may send operational communications necessary for administering accounts and providing the Services.

Marketing or promotional communications will be handled in accordance with applicable law. Where required, users will be able to unsubscribe from promotional email.

Important security, privacy, account or transactional messages may still be sent where necessary to operate the Services.

23. Children and Young People

Motorsport includes participants of varying ages.

Where a person is legally unable to provide the necessary consent to use Slip Tracker or provide personal information, they should use the Services only with appropriate involvement or consent from a parent, guardian or other legally authorised person.

We encourage parents and guardians to carefully consider information made publicly available about younger racers.

24. International Users

Slip Tracker is operated from New Zealand but may be accessible internationally.

Information may be processed in countries other than the country where you live.

Different countries have different privacy and data-protection laws.

Where applicable laws provide you with additional privacy rights, you may contact us to exercise those rights.

25. Disclosure Required by Law

We may preserve, access or disclose information where we reasonably believe this is necessary to:

• comply with applicable law;
• respond to a valid legal process;
• protect the rights or safety of users or other people;
• investigate fraud, abuse or security incidents;
• enforce our Terms of Use; or
• protect Slip Tracker and its systems.

We will not voluntarily disclose private user information to third parties merely because they request it where we have no appropriate reason or authority to do so.

26. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Slip Tracker will continue to develop.

We may update this Privacy Policy when our Services, technology, business practices or legal obligations change.

The current version will be published on Slip Tracker with an updated revision date.

Where a change materially affects how personal information is handled, we may provide additional notice where reasonably appropriate or legally required.

27. Contact and Privacy Requests

Questions, concerns, access requests or correction requests relating to privacy may be submitted through the contact or Help facilities provided by Slip Tracker.

Where required under New Zealand law, Slip Tracker will maintain an appropriate point of contact for privacy matters.

28. New Zealand Privacy Rights

Individuals may have rights under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, including rights relating to access and correction of personal information.

Nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to remove or limit any right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
